HISTORY On February 2, 2002, an organizational meeting was held at Pure Resources with 48 people in attendance, to discuss the possibility of having a local organization for lease and title analysts. Nine of those at the meeting were with the National Association of Lease and Title Analysts and offered information regarding the purpose of such an organization. At this time it was decided to set up a local chapter and interim officers were voted on. They were: President – Vicki C. Hathaway Vice President – Sarah M. Adamson Secretary/Treasurer – Marianne B. McEwin Numerous meetings were held between the three interim officers and others to write the By-Laws, obtain the Secretary of State’s blessing, and put together officers’ duties and many other details. On May 21, 2002, the charter meeting of the Permian Association of Lease and Title Analysts was held at Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co, LP. That evening 21 people turned in their dues and membership applications. All were committed to promotion, education and networking for the lease and title analyst. Each Charter Member was given a framed certificate to signify the occasion. With the help of Pure Resources, Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Co, LP, and Phillips Petroleum Company, PALTA became a reality. In 2018 the PALTA membership reached a record breaking high of 156 members and today in 2023 we have 96 members. Our membership is finally increasing in size since the pandemic. In 2002, there were three (3) Certified Professional Lease and Title Analysts (CPLTA) in Midland. At the time most local companies did not know what a CPLTA was, how it could benefit employers or the extent of how someone became certified. Today, in 2023, there are 43 CPLTA’s associated with the PALTA chapter. Each year PALTA host a 3-Day CPLTA Review & Exam for all members of our chapter and anyone wishing to enhance their skills and knowledge in oil and gas. Since the establishment of PALTA, monthly luncheons are held with various informative speakers within our industry to enlighten and deliver their knowledge on numerous subjects to increase individual’s knowledge of the Petroleum Industry. In the spring, PALTA hosts an all-day educational seminar to not only our membership but all like-minded individuals looking to obtain knowledge and educational credits in the oil and gas industry. Diversified speakers of all backgrounds will join us to enhance our understanding of the industry. |
